The Trout Story

Jack had focused his attention not on making a lot of rubbings, but on expanding the number of fish in his collection.
Living on the North East shore of the Atlantic he was able to focus his attention to both Fresh and Saltwater fish. He was always on the lookout for acquiring additional fish for his expanding collection which was now over 30.
One day one of Jack’s relatives was describing the beautiful Rainbows he was catching on a lake to the north. When Jack explained to him about his effort in expanding his collection, he was asked if he had a Trout. When Jack told him not yet, he offered to get him one. Jack said one in the 14” to 16” range would fill his needs just fine. A few days later he called Jack to ask if an 18” fish do instead? Jack replied it sure would, … keep it! Jack dropped everything he was doing and drove up to get the fish. He made the rubbings later that night. Working with a Trout is very difficult. It had to have just the right amount of ink. Not too much and … not too little. As it was, he finally came away from that session with a very fine rubbing.
